Specialised/Advanced Courses

For those that have experience of meditation or have been on one of our Learn to Meditate courses, we offer a range of advanced or specialist courses (one day, weekend and long weekends). These provide the opportunity to develop your own practice or to further explore other types of meditation practice.

We aim to make all of our courses enjoyable, informative and fun and along these lines, we also offer occasional courses that combine meditation with activities that are complementary to and also reinforce meditation – such as art and meditation.

Moving meditation
A simple introduction to moving meditation in either the forms of Tai Chi or Qi Gong.  These courses are suitable for beginners of all ages.

Tai Chi is the practice of a series of slow meditative physical movements, designed for meditation, relaxation, balance and health. It can be practised on many levels, from a meditative practice through to a martial art.

Qi Gong is a healing, meditative and energy based practice that uses a combination of breathing techniques, gentle movements, and meditation, leading to better health and wellbeing, vitality and peace.

Insight meditation/mindfulness – We look at and work with the meditative technique of insight and mindfulness to start to develop an intentional, moment by moment, observation and awareness of our body, mind and thought processes. Through this we start to raise our awareness of how we personally experience and relate to each moment - we are then better able to start to live life in the present and in a more balanced way.

Introduction to meditation for children and families
This is a short, informal and fun course designed specifically for children between 7 and 12 years of age, together with parents. It cover all of the same practical content and range of techniques as our Learn to Meditate course but with more informality and fun and generally geared more to children and families. The course is however still designed to enable everyone to start their own meditation practice. We are happy to run private courses for one or more families, in their own home.

Mantra and sound meditation
Developing mantra meditation - meditation with sound and vibration as a focus.

Meditation through art and art through meditation
A weekend course that combines meditation and art and shows how both can be accessed via each other. This course is taught jointly by an experienced art teacher who has personal meditation experience and a Meditation Foundation teacher. Suitable for beginners.

Meditation through art and craft
These weekend courses provide the opportunity to combine learning or developing meditation, in conjunction with arts and craft practices that have their own meditative qualities – such as wood carving, stone sculpture or traditional crafts such as basket weaving. Each course will have one particular art or craft taught in conjunction with meditation.

Meditation and healing – Meditation goes hand in hand with healing and health and there are meditations that reinforce and aid healing and a person’s journey towards better health. There are also meditative practices that help people to deal with a particular state of health where it is not deemed possible to change that state of health.

These courses are offered to those who wish to explore different aspects of a particular meditation practice or who wish to develop a particular practice, in conjunction with another activity.

Please contact us for further information on any of these courses.
