Learn to Meditate for Health & Wellbeing

A simple course designed so that anyone can establish a personal meditation practice and start to access the many benefits. We look at and practice various simple meditation and mindfulness techniques (as people are different, we intentionally consider a range of techniques) and also consider practicalities such as posture, timing etc. We also introduce the research-based benefits of meditation.

The course is easily learnt, requires no prior knowledge and no special abilities. We're not talking about the search for spiritual enlightenment, just simple practices, designed for modern life and the improvement of health, wellbeing and cognitive function. The course is backed up by downloadable course notes. A CD of guided meditations to accompany the course is also available.


Structure and timing
We have two main options we recommend:

Introductory session
This is around three and a half-hours duration and can be run in one session (day time or evening) or split into 2 sessions.  This is designed as a full and complete introduction, so that at the end of the session you will have the introductory knowledge and skills to start a daily meditation practice and access the benefits.

Complete programme
This is designed as a complete programme (it can follow on from the Introductory session, if desired although this is not necessary). It is highly recommended, as it specifically focuses on supporting participants to successfully establish a personal meditation practice. We can teach you the various practical techniques in a short period of time - however, we know from much experience that your chances of continuing with meditation into the future (and reaping the benefits) are much stronger if you follow the full programme.

This programme consists of either six consecutive, weekly, two-hour sessions or three fortnightly four hour sessions, over 6 weeks.

Prices
In line with our social enterprise philosophy, we aim to keep the cost of courses low. The cost of the Introductory session is around £35 a person, depending on numbers and venue costs and the Complete programme is around £20-30 per person, per session, dependant on numbers and venue costs.

If you would like to organise your own course, for a group of family, friends, colleagues, where we come to you, we can do this for a reduced cost and, subject to numbers, provide a free place to the organiser and host.

We are working towards establishing a network of weekly, drop in, meditation sessions at various locations around the UK which will be open to all of those who have attended one of our introductory courses.
